Overview
More than 920,000 people in the UK are currently living with dementia, and they all have one thing in common – every one of them deserves caring, compassionate individuals to help meet their care needs.
Although working with dementia sufferers can be challenging, there’s no greater reward than knowing that you’re helping to improve the happiness and quality of life of people suffering with this condition.
Dementia awareness level 2 is specially designed for learners who’d like to pursue a career caring for dementia sufferers in a health and social care role, or progress to level three qualifications. It’s person-centred, which means you’ll be focusing on how to involve the individual in their care needs as much as possible, considering their personal preferences and requirements.
On this level two dementia care course, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of what the condition is, along with the kinds of experiences a sufferer might have. You’ll find out how to support individuals with dementia to improve wellbeing and reach their full potential, along with how to communicate effectively with them depending on their abilities. You’ll find out how to maintain an individual’s right to privacy, dignity, and respect when supporting them, how to work as a team with other carers and professionals to provide the very best care, and much more. And, as you learn all this and more, you’ll be able to study in your own time, at your own pace.
